Away from restoring the body's potential for self-cure
Traditional medicines such as Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy generally do not cause side effects, but allopathy is well known for causing side effects. Besides, the traditional medicines can help the body to regain its power of self-cure, whereas allopathy make people believe completely in chemicals and the scalpel. There are news reports that some government-funded organisations without deeper knowledge of human health and medicine systems are trying to combine the traditional medicines with allopathy.
President of IMA questions legality and competency of mixopaths
The President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Shri Bhanushali, stating that they "are not against ayurveda, homoeopathy, or other sciences", has warned, "Promotion of mixopathy would promote quackery." He pointed out that a Supreme Court directive has prohibited such practices. Highlighting the rigorous training modern surgeons undergo, spanning eight to 10 years, Bhanushali questioned, "How can you simply train ayurveda, homoeopathy or Unani doctors for one year and allow them to perform duties equivalent to a surgeon? Will they do justice to their patients?"
Stating that ‘mixopathy’ takes away the right from patients, the IMA said: “Let it be the choice of people to choose any system of medicine.”
IMA demands that the Government withdraw this regressive proposal in the best interest of the health of the people. “Let it be the choice of the patient to to choose any system of medicine. Mixopathy takes away that right from the patient,” it added.
